BABE (Breastfeeding Advocacy Benefits Everyone)
Breastfeeding Coalition of Northeast Tennessee- BABE is a coalition of health care providers and community members with an interest in breastfeeding promotion that was established in 2005.
- The BABE Coalition seeks to facilitate communication and build partnerships among health professionals and community members to promote a supportive breastfeeding environment in Northeast Tennessee.
- BABE members have recently written and received several grants from the American Academy of Pediatrics to promote breastfeeding io our region.
- Based on results of a community needs assessment conducted in 2007-2008, we planned and hosted the region's first Conference on Breastfeeding in Spring 2009 and are developing a Lactation and Infant Nutrition Coordination (LINC) Program to increase education and support for breastfeeding during the prenatal period and beyond.
